About NewHope Church
NewHope Church has been a vibrant presence in the Triangle since 2002 and now serves more than 6,000 people each week. Known for relevant biblical teaching, engaging worship, and high-impact ministry across all age groups, NewHope exists to Reach, Teach, and Release people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus. The need
NewHope Church sought a Worship Pastor who could lead contemporary worship with excellence, collaborate effectively with staff, shepherd volunteers well, and embody the church’s values of authenticity, creativity, and gospel-centered impact. Worship searches carry unique challenges — requiring theological alignment, cultural fit, artistic discernment, and strong relational chemistry.
This role called for more than musical skill; it required a leader who could step into NewHope’s established culture and help guide a thriving worship ministry into its next season.
The Vanderbloemen difference
From the outset, strong momentum marked this search. Executive Search Consultant Sarah Meggers and Executive Search Recruiter Dawson Penshorn partnered closely with NewHope’s leadership team to understand the heart of the church and the qualities needed in a Worship Pastor who would flourish there.
Very quickly, it became clear that this opportunity resonated with many. An exceptional number of strong worship leaders surfaced early in the process. Dawson sourced and curated a highly qualified slate of six candidates — all before the standard presentation window had concluded.
As interviews continued, the leadership team sensed a growing clarity. Each step of the process affirmed that God was guiding them toward a particular candidate.
The result
That candidate was Caleb Hunt.
From his earliest conversations, Caleb distinguished himself through not only his musical and leadership strengths but also his humility, authenticity, and passion for ministry. When he led worship at NewHope, there was an immediate sense of unity — among the congregation, the staff, and Caleb and his wife themselves.
By the end of the visit, both Caleb and the church sensed that this was a strong fit. Caleb shared that he and his wife “didn’t want to leave because it already felt like home.” He accepted the call and will join the NewHope staff in January, beginning an exciting new season of ministry for both him and the church.
